Earlier this month, Team Hampr dropped in on the International Esthetics, Cosmetics & Spa Conference (IECSC 2025) in New York City to explore whether laundry is a hidden pain point in the world of wellness and self-care. Spoiler alert: it is.
We didn’t exhibit this year, but our Head of Product and Head of Growth hit the show floor to connect with attendees, soak in the trends, and get a real-world pulse check on the spa and esthetics space.
A Beauty & Wellness Wonderland
The show was massive — over 250 exhibitors and more than 40 class sessions, drawing professionals from all corners of the globe (yes, even Tokyo!). Exhibitors ranged from organic tallow-based skincare to cutting-edge, dermatologist-created super lasers. O
n-floor demos were everywhere, from skin peels to massages to eyebrow treatments you could get without ever leaving the trade floor.
And the fashion? Iconic. We saw full glam, floor-length drama, and everything in between — all captured at the free headshot booth that was absolutely popping all conference.
Trends We Loved (and One That Called Us Out)
- Red light therapy is officially having a moment — minimally invasive skin treatments with minimal recovery time were big.
- Cryotherapy offered a cool counterpoint, promising glow-ups with targeted cold exposure.
- Organic skincare is booming — lines wrapped around the booth for sessions from brands like Eminence Organic Skin Care and Farmhouse Fresh.
- A machine that tells you how old your skin is? Cool, but also rude. It added an average of 13 years to our team’s ages. We’re choosing to take it as a suggestion, not a fact.
But Let’s Talk Towels
When we asked spa owners and estheticians how they handled laundry, the answers were surprisingly consistent: they’re doing it themselves.
That means:
- Less time with clients
- Constant towel shortages
- Infrastructure costs (hello, commercial washers)
- And noise levels that disrupt the client experience
Or, as one boutique owner from LA put it:
“Laundry is the lifeblood of our industry.”
