Last week, we had an incredible time at the NCVRMA Summit in Cary, NC—the first in a few years, and we’re already counting down to the next one! It was amazing to connect with so many leaders in the NC vacation rental space, exchange ideas, and dive into how the industry is navigating growth, especially in the wake of recent natural disasters.
Here are our top three takeaways from the event:
1️⃣ This industry is built on COMMUNITY.
From the moment we arrived, we felt the energy. This group isn’t just about competition, it’s about collaboration. Everyone we met was eager to share insights on how to grow the North Carolina vacation rental industry together.
This was our first NCVRMA event, and the warm welcome made it clear—we’re in the right place. With our first location in Eastern NC opening later this month, we’re excited to serve this incredible community (and, of course, handle all their laundry needs).
2️⃣ The biggest legislative battle? The school calendar.
At first glance, school start dates might not seem like a vacation rental issue, but they are. A post-Labor Day school start means:
✅ Longer summer vacations → Higher occupancy → More revenue
✅ More seasonal workers available to support the tourism industry
It’s a critical issue and NCVRMA is keeping a close eye on it.
3️⃣ Laundry remains a never-ending headache.
Here’s the deal: Most major property managers are bringing laundry in-house to maintain control, but it’s not without its challenges—high startup costs, staffing headaches, and logistical nightmares.
One panelist said it best:
“Let people do their one job so they do it well. If they do multiple, they’ll do neither well.”
That really hit home. If vacation rental teams are stretched thin handling operations AND laundry, can they really excel at either?
That’s where hampr comes in. We handle laundry so your team can focus on what they do best. Ready to chat? Book a time here.
Until the next event! 🚀
